Why is this player being nominated?
On our team the players have to take turns playing defense as we don't have enough natural D-players on the team. Lucas started his turn at the beginning of January having never played the position before. In our 5 games this month (4 in which he played defense) he had a total of 14 goals and 3 assists! Though he was an offensive powerhouse he still played defense responsibly and made tremendous progress in fine tuning his positional play.

Lucas likes to start games out strong. This season he has scored on his first shift of the game 5 different times - his record being 7 seconds after the puck was dropped!
