IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Sep. 27, 2021

Good morning membership,

CMHA received new communication this weekend with some recent Government of Alberta clarifications/changes to the Restriction Exemption Program (REP) which will come into effect today Monday September 27, 2021.

Coaches, instructors, trainers, referees etc. for youth activities, who are 18 years or older, are subject to the public health measures or REP requirements in the facility. Thus, there is no exemption and must demonstrate proof of vaccination, medical exemption or negative covid test result. We'll adjust our screening process beginning on Monday, September 27th.

Youth are subject to physical distancing at all other times when not engaged in the physical activity (e.g., locker rooms, common areas etc.). The accountability on this will rest with user groups and organizations will need to determine their own plan which may be audited by a Public Health Officer.

CMHA has outlined a plan moving forward.

U7 & U9:

- Arrive NO MORE than 15 minutes prior to your ice time

- Must come fully dressed, mask on until kids hit the ice.

- 6 feet apart in the dressing room, will be marked. Use more than one dressing room if you’re the only user group.

- No parents in the dressing room unless an athlete needs support

U11 & U13:

- Arrive NO MORE than 15 minutes prior to your ice time

- Must come fully dressed, mask on until kids hit the ice.

- 6 feet apart in the dressing room, will be marked. Use more than one dressing room if you’re the only user group.

- No parents in the dressing room unless an athlete needs support

U15 & U18:

- NO MORE than 45 minutes before ice time.

- Mask on until kids hit the ice.

- 6 feet apart in the dressing room, will be marked on benches and chairs placed in the middle of the dressing room. Use more than one dressing room if you’re the only user group.

- No parents in the dressing room unless an athlete needs support

*For the teams that have full ice sessions please utilize 2 dressing rooms.

As always, we will continue to send out information that affects CMHA from Alberta Health as restrictions/guidance are clarified or shifted. CMHA is making these changes as advised by the Alberta Government, we are following these guidelines the best we can to keep kids on the ice.

Please respect our partners Spray Lakes employees, CMHA employees, board and volunteers, these are Government Health orders.

Thank you

CMHA
