We are reaching out with an important ask of our entire membership.
On Monday, May 5th at 6:00 PM, the Cochrane Town Council will be holding a meeting that could significantly impact the future of hockey in our community. We are urging all CMHA families to attend this meeting in person and show their support for the development of a much-needed additional ice surface in Cochrane.
Please arrive by 5:45 PM to ensure we are seated and visibly present together.
CMHA continues to grow every season—but we’re rapidly reaching a breaking point. This coming season, we are at risk of capping registration and turning kids away due to limited ice availability.
To give some perspective:
Just three years ago, we utilized the Mini Thni satellite arena 3 evenings a week for 3 hours per night.
Today, we book 4 weekday evenings at Mini Thni, using 4 hours each night, plus every available morning ice time in Cochrane.
All teams are now rotating through both early mornings and travel practices to make ends meet.
The current capacity simply cannot support continued growth, and a second ice surface would allow us to expand, develop programming, and better serve our community.
We want to make a strong, unified statement. Please:
Wear your CMHA jerseys to the meeting.
If you do not have a jersey, indicate it on the sign-up sheet linked below, and we will do our best to provide one.

Let’s pack the room and demonstrate just how critical this is for our kids, our families, and the future of hockey in Cochrane.
Thank you for standing with us.
