Good afternoon Members,
I wanted to forward a message sent by Hockey Alberta, as we all know this continues to be a fluid situation.
"Since the Government of Alberta released the updated Temporary Measures on September 15, including the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP), there has been a general sense of frustration within the hockey community.
The original announcement was positive - stating that youth sport, including competition, could continue along with masking and physical distancing requirements. The frustration stems from the lack of clarity regarding the intent and implementation of the REP, and how it impacts on youth sport participants, some of whom are eligible to be vaccinated, and some of whom are not eligible.
Hockey Alberta has heard this frustration from parents, players, coaches, officials and MHA volunteers. We are all trying to do the right thing for our participants and for our sport. Thank you for your efforts to date, and we ask you to keep up the good work that you are doing on behalf of our sport.
Hockey Alberta has been working to get these answers for several days and have been able to clarify a few pieces of important information below:
In the meantime, we encourage our Members to continue working directly with their facility and the measures they have in place and we will provide updated clarification as needed. We would also ask if you can provide Hockey Alberta with an update on if/ how your facility/community is implementing the REP. That will help us as we develop a supporting plan for both our provincial and regional leagues."
Thank you Hockey Alberta for the clarification, as always these health orders can change at any given moment, I will update you as they come.
